RIIBLA602E Establish and Maintain a Blasting System
RIIBLA401E Manage Blasting Operations
A course designed for persons with overall responsibility for the management of Drill and Blast Operations such as Drill and Blast Superintendents and Senior Engineers.
[Please Note: Only available as part of the Manage Drill and Blast Operations Masterclass Course]
RIIBLA401E Manage Blasting Operations
A course for line management with responsibility for daily drill and blast operations. Topics covered are:
- Procedures, operating instructions and operating standards
- Auditing and compliance
- Training and assessment
- Risk management
- Documentation and records
RIIBLA402E Monitor and Control the Effect of Blasting on the Environment
This course covers the following environmental effects of blasting:
- Ground vibration
- Overpressure“
- Flyrock
- Fume and dust
- Spillage and pollution.
The course is aimed at Shotfirers wanting an unrestricted license and Drill and Blast staff operating on sites with environmental constraints.
RIIBLA403E Design Blasts
This course is aimed at drill and blast engineers responsible for design and reconciliation. This course is also recommended for persons with responsibility for design validation and authorisation.
Course content includes:
- Explosives and rock breaking
- Drill pattern, charge and tie up design
- Reconciliation
- Targets and tolerances
- Design standards, objectives and constraints
- Includes BLASTPLAN II access for the course
- Students may use their company software.
The course is run over two days. Successful candidates will be expected to be able to develop drill, charge and tie-up designs, assess drill and blast processes and determine appropriate monitoring systems to manage design implementation.
Approved Safe Drilling and Blasting Course (As required by Qld & NSW Mining Regulators)
This course is aimed at Queensland Senior Site Executives (SSE’s) requiring a Safe Drilling and Blasting Course to meet the required competencies of the Queensland Board of Examiners. Course content includes all theory components extracted from the Surface Shotfirer course for the Units of Competency:- RIIBLA205 Store, Handle and Transport Explosives
- RIIBLA301 Conduct Surface Shotfiring Operations
- RIIBLA305 Conduct Secondary Breakage
CLASSROOM TRAINING
Classroom training sessions are delivered by highly qualified trainers and run according to the published schedule.
On request BMI will also run site specific classroom training courses for a minimum of ten (10) candidates.
